I am going to just come straight out with it. I have the worst feet when I comes to shoes and comfort. I struggle to find a pair of shoes that I can wear all day while walking around. When you add the factor of 30C heat it is not making the choice easier.
I am on the countdown to a 4 day trip to Madrid with Daniel. I know already it will be full of tapas, wine, walking, shopping and the sun (well hopefully, coming from Scotland you don’t have much faith in the weather) I know that when all of these factors come together, the first thing I think is – “What can I wear?”
I am, like most girls that are into fashion, already making a pile in my room of the clothes I am going to take and ok I’ll be honest most of the pile has happened as my online orders have arrived! Guilty! But that all said and back to the point of this post – the most difficult part of a city break wardrobe is the shoes. Sometimes you never know if a pop to the restaurant down the street is going to end with coming back to the hotel to change or lead to a whole day out across the city with miles of walking involved!
At home I always head for my Nike trainers for comfort, they never rub, the soles are always cushioned and the material is always breathable. But I’m just not feeling my running trainers are the shoe for my Madrid break. If I was heading to Copenhagen in March/April they would be starting the holiday clothes pile – but not for Madrid.
So I started my search on ASOS – I always start there. They have the biggest selection, the easiest app and the one off payment for next day delivery for the year is the best £9.95 I have ever spent! So I started on all shoes and scrolled past amazing shoes that looked amazing but I could feel the sore feet just looking at them. If I was taking my car they would be perfect. I finally came across these:
I ordered them with some shorts and camisoles. I fell in love as soon as I tried them on, the strap around the ankles makes them very comfortable while keeping a minimalist look. I am planning on wearing them with my dresses and playsuits but they also look great with jeans – I am currently a lover of a girlfriend jean, I have always been a skinny jean fanatic they look great with almost all tops and shoes but try a girlfriend jean ladies and I’m sure you will be won over. Especially for summer.
I am going to take 2 other pairs of shoes with me when I go away – new Adidas Stan Smiths and my go to summer shoe from the last few years, Solillas sandals in Black.
Both of these are tested and tried comfy shoes that will help me walk miles in sunny Madrid at the end of the week.
